Twin Girls’ Bedroom

As your twin girls approach their teens, it is essential to create a space that will be appreciated during their teenage years. Between the ages of 8 – 10 is the ideal time to start designing a bedroom that your pre-teenage children will love and grow into.

The room needs to be reflective of their childhood, yet mature enough for them to endure during their adolescent years. During their high school years, they will spend a substantial amount of time in their bedrooms; wanting to be alone, enjoying sleepovers and late nights of studying.

Our first rule of thumb is to explore the options that the children like. Do they like soft textures? Do they prefer a particular colour palette?Or do they enjoy writing, reading or gaming? These questions, will inform how you proceed with the initial design concept of the room.

Stylish Elements

This bedroom was actually designed for a pre-teen who loved, soft textures, cuddly toys, she loved pink and turquoise, which we wanted to incorporate within the room. She also wanted a “chill out zone”. Situated in a London town house, the room was long and narrow – not allowing scope for many options. We wanted a swing chair to be the fun focal point of the room, as it would be the ‘chill out zone’ and ‘book nook’, as well as making it extremely comfortable. Painting the ceiling in a pail pink, complimented the wallpaper as well as giving the visual effect of a lowered ceiling.

We chose a stylish transparent egg chair, which complimented a polka dotted wallpaper that had a hint of glitter.

This wallpaper worked extremely well as the pink dots were sparsely placed on a white background. With neutral buttoned headboards, off white furniture and a round brass mirror, this room became a dream teens bedroom. Inspirational prints and quirky art reflective of the girl’s age, were added to the walls.

The En-suite

Our little client also loved turquoise, so we used elements of turquoise in the roman blind fabric, carrying the colour through to a turquoise feature wall in the en-suite, to balance the hard white marble featured in the vanity and in the bath.

At MK Kids Interiors, we have developed a unique skill of understanding our clients needs and delivering exceptional children’s spaces.

Polka dots! Loved the idea. It really goes along with the other furniture. I’m planning to recreate this for my children’s room. I have already bought a star and moon hanging decor items from Home Hub Dubai, now I’m planning to buy some furniture’s as shown above.
