This has to be the most colourful nursery in London!
My recent client did not shy away from colour. She wanted a colourful nursery with mobiles hanging. Her baby girl (2 years old) needed storage and curtains that would help her sleep at night without the distraction of lights. Mum wanted the whole bedroom design to tie in with the rug, and the pink wall paper under the mirror, which had already been bought.
We also had to work around the existing desk, therefore the curtain were made to sit just above the desk (with allowance for adjustments). Thank to Koza Curtains and Blinds! We designed several room layouts for the nursery and finally came to the conclusion of the current layout.
We then got sourcing, looking for colourful fabrics that had pinks and oranges which was also specified in the design brief. This was exciting! We proposed to use pompoms as trimmings on the blinds and pelmet; and because the blinds were so colourful, it was toned down the lovely white curtains, but still injecting a bit of colour the client was excited about the design proposal. Our client also wanted to use the Designers Guild wallpaper or fabric on the bespoke wardrobe. We designed an oak framed wardrobe with removable panels, which we placed the wallpaper on. We just had to finish the doors with these exclusive artisan glass door knobs from Merlin Glass. I absolutely fell in love again! These doorknobs are so beautiful, they actually remind me of sweeties.
We sourced the amazing bespoke butterfly and birds mobile from Lovebug Lullabies and was extremely specific in my instructions regarding colour, and I must say when it arrived it was perfect.Little Miss needed a board she could write on and stick things to. Rather than dividing it and having two different sections, I made it a magnetic whiteboard, which we customised by flocking the frame in a fuchsia pink.
Little Miss was really excited by her new nursery.
She jumped for joy as she was placed in the cot, and was fascinated with the texture on the frame of the magnetic board.
And that’s what makes me happy… A child who loves their bedroom!
